Yes, you can migrate an existing WordPress website from one host to another. The basic steps for this migration are given below.

  1. First step is to take the backup of your WordPress site files using an Fire Transfer Protocol (FTP) program.
  2. The second step is to export your WordPress database within the phpMyAdmin program in your control panel.
  3. In your new host server create a new WordPress database.
  4. Now you will have to edit the wp-config.php file to reflect the new database name and user information.
  5. Finally, you may Import your database and upload your WordPress files to your new host.

  • Sign in to your WordPress site.
  • Click Settings  and go to the General settings.
  • Click “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the screen. Note: Following changes, your website will become temporarily unavailable.
